Short Bio
- Dr. Ahmed is a staff scientist in the pluripotent stem cell disease modeling department at Sidra medicine, Qatar. He is a joint lecturer at the college of health and life sciences (CHLS) at HBKU. Ahmed also is associate professor in Suez Canal University in Egypt. Dr. Ahmed received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Anatomy and Embryology from Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt where his research focused on the prenatal development of the endocrine glands. He awarded the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) fellowship and obtained his Ph.D. in Developmental Biology in 2015 from Yangzhou University (China) where he gained the vast experience of different types of stem cells such as pluripotent, primordial germ stem cells (PGSCs) and spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) and its role in solving the hurdles of male sterility and infertility. From 2017 to 2022, Dr. Ahmed worked as post-doctoral researched at QBRI where his major research interest focus on the generation of patient specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and their use for understanding the pathophysiology and mechanisms of several diseases including insulin resistance, diabetes, and neurological disorders such as the autism spectrum disorder ASD. Later, he worked as the stem cell core manager in the same institute. Currently, he is a staff scientist in the team of stem cells at Sidra Medicine, Qatar with special focus on patient-specific pluripotent stem cells for disease modeling.
