Short Bio
- Javier Franco studied for a Bachelor's in Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM. He later completed his postgraduate studies (Master's and PhD) at the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM, focusing on Neuroscience research. Currently, he is a medical sciences researcher at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery. He completed a two-year postdoctoral stay at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland. There, he managed to implement a new medulloblastoma model in pediatric mice focused on applying FLASH radiotherapy to treat brain tumors and evaluate secondary cognitive effects. The primary research interest addresses seizures, stroke, and the cognitive deficit induced by various processes such as radiotherapy, as well as the different mechanisms underlying these phenomena.
