  • Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit, University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, Greece until May 2014. Currently Scientific Director of Mitera Hospital in Heraklion, Crete. Trained for three years in Prenatal Diagnosis and Fetal Medicine at the University of Connecticut, CT, USA, and at the Kings’ College Hospital, London, UK. He has published 145 research articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. Author in various English- and Greek-language medical books. Former President and currently Vice President of the Hellenic Society in Perinatal Medicine. President in the Hellenic Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. His research has been awarded several times, and is focused on various topics in Perinatal Medicine, the aetiopathogenesis of preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction, the antenatal diagnosis of rare genetic syndromes, and the non-invasive prenatal diagnosis by the use of free fetal DNA and fetal cells in the maternal circulation.
