Dear Colleagues, I am pleased to invite you to contribute to the forthcoming special issue of Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine dedicated to the critical exploration of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). TBI remains a substantial global health problem. Understanding the intricate pathophysiological aspects of TBI through basic and clinical research is pivotal for advancing the field and ultimately providing new diagnostic/prognostic and therapeutic avenues for improving patient management and outcomes. Advances in medical technologies for enhanced monitoring, imaging and nervous system interfacing combined with improved rehabilitation strategies are also likely to significantly contribute towards this goal. This special issue aims at providing a comprehensive platform for the dissemination of cutting-edge research and insights in this critical domain. Topics of interest, on all age groups from the pediatric to the geriatric patient, include, but are not limited to: experimental (animal) models, genetic factors, drug or non-drug (e.g transcranial stimulation) therapy, surgical approaches/interventions, rehabilitation approaches, neuroimaging, neuromonitoring, biomarkers and the use artificial intelligence tools. Original research articles and comprehensive reviews that provide valuable insights into the aforementioned topics will be considered. This special issue aims at bridging the gap between research and clinical practice, fostering collaboration and promoting advancements in the field of TBI.
