We are currently experiencing multidisciplinarity in research as well as in the treatment of inflammatory and oncological diseases. Precision treatment would be impossible without an interdisciplinary approach, bringing together specialists in many fields. Multidisciplinary teams are being formed, bringing together clinicians, pathomorphologists, molecular biologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons and skilled medical personnel to make the most accurate therapeutic decisions. This approach is most evident in oncology. These interdisciplinary teams may be expanded to include members involved in microbiota profiling. The microbiota appears essential in the onset and course of inflammatory diseases that can lead to cancer. The composition and diversity of the microbiota may also determine the effectiveness of personalized treatment. More and more data indicate that the microbiota assessment may be used in everyday clinical practice to enable more precise treatment.
