This special issue, titled "Cancer Stem Cells: Investigating the Role of Stem Cells in Tumor Initiation, Progression, and Resistance to Therapy," aims to explore the critical functions of cancer stem cells (CSCs) in the oncogenic process. CSCs are a subpopulation of cancer cells with self-renewal capabilities, contributing significantly to tumor heterogeneity, metastasis, and recurrence. Understanding their role in tumor initiation and progression is essential for developing targeted therapies to overcome treatment resistance. This issue will cover recent advancements in CSC research, including molecular pathways, biomarkers, and therapeutic strategies, to provide a comprehensive understanding of their impact on cancer biology and treatment outcomes.
