- Mr Vasileios Mavroeidis, MD, MSc, FRCS, FACS, FICS, FSSO, MFSTEd, MICR, obtained his medical degree with excellence distinction from the Medical University, School of Medicine of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He undertook specialist training in General Surgery in Athens, Greece. He further trained extensively in the United Kingdom, in Hepatopancreatobiliary, Sarcoma Surgery and wider aspects of Surgical Oncology including minimally invasive techniques, as well as in Transplant Surgery encompassing a wide spectrum including liver, renal, pancreas, small bowel, modified multi-visceral transplantation and renal autotransplantation, Vascular Access Surgery and Organ Retrieval Surgery. Subsequently he developed his practice in HPB, General and Transplant Surgery in Bristol, working jointly between the Bristol Royal Infirmary, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, and the Southmead Hospital, North Bristol Trust, and later on as HPB and General Surgeon at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, a world leading centre in cancer treatment and research, applying aspects of Surgical Oncology in a multidisciplinary setting. He continues to work with the Transplant and General Surgery Units at the Southmead Hospital in Bristol. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons. He is a Regular Member of the Hellenic Surgical Society, a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and an Active Member of the Society of Surgical Oncology. He has worked and continues to work with several research groups, has published and presented scientific work widely, is a Professional Member of the Institute of Clinical Research and a founding member of the International Study Group on non-pancreatic peri-Ampullary Cancer (ISGACA). He is currently Principal Investigator and sub-investigator for a number of studies. He has extensive teaching, educational and supervision experience and holds several relevant awards and distinctions. He is a reviewer for a number of reputable international peer-reviewed journals.
