Short Bio
- Dr. Wataru Nishimura, Professor of Medicine, Department of Molecular Biology, International University of Health and Welfare, obtained a M.D. in 1993 and Ph.D. in 2002 from Okayama University. He has engaged in islet biology research focusing on roles of transcription factors for 20 years at the Joslin Diabetes Center, the National Center for Global Health and Medicine and the Jichi Medical University He received JDRF International Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2005, Mary K. Iacocca Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2007 and the best presentation award at Boston-Ithaca Islet Club Meeting in 2007. He is currently a councilor of the Japanese Biochemical Society.
