Breast cancer is the most common malignant neoplasm in women, with an increasing incidence and prevalence in Western countries, making it one of the most significant public health issues. The introduction of mammography screening has led to an improved detection rate and increasingly earlier diagnoses of pre-clinic lesions, often impalpable. However, there has also been an increase in the difficulty of differential diagnoses, with debated and discussed issues, without clear guidelines, such as in the management of BIRADS 3B lesions. In these situations, innovative diagnostic techniques using artificial intelligence methods could play a key role. Another important aspect is the need for reliable and precise localization techniques to support increasingly precise, minimally invasive, and cosmetic surgery. Furthermore, many clinical trials are investigating the role of axillary staging and surgery in breast cancer. This is an interesting topic, capable of influencing the choice between a surgical or oncological approach, as well as the overall management of patients with breast cancer.
