There is a robust amount of studies that have identified components of the Mediterranean Diet with a functional impact on human physiology and health. However, in the Americas, pre-Columbian diets based on the consumption of fish, roots and fruits also have relevant functional components. This is the case of the fruits that make up the Amazonian Diet. Many of these fruits are widely consumed around the world, such as pineapple, cocoa, passion fruit, açaí and guarana. Others are regionally consumed, also showing relevant functional properties. As a specific issue on fruits of the Amazonian Diet has not yet been published, this would be its proposal.
